Atmospheric contamination by exhaust gases and pollutants from auto driving became a social problem. The authors pointed out the problems of traditional transportation demand management policy and introduced the overview of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system in a sense that BRT is the basic and important keyelement of plausible TDM. BRT enables to change the autos-centered transportation system to transit-centered and thereby can decrease the atmospheric contamination more or less. Quantification of such air quality reduction has been estimated using the transportation simulation and incremental logit model. The effect of proposed BRT line over supposed section of national highway No.1 amounted to the benefit of 1,200 million won in 2006, and 1,200 million won in 2020, respectively.
