On May 26, 2007, this law was replaced by the Special Education Law of Individuals with Disabilities and the Like. The purpose of this present study is to conduct a theoretical and legal analysis of some regulations of this newly enacted special education law. More specifically, this study compared and contrasted the Special Education Law of Individuals with Disabilities and the Like with other related laws and the Special Education Promotion Law in terms of the title, purposes, and definitions of major legal terminologies. This study also evaluated the validity, rationality and efficacy of the Special Education Law of Individuals with Disabilities and the Like and provided interpretations of its effects in the field of current special education. As a result, the direction of future revisions of this newly enacted law and policy development are provided, and necessary components for further research are suggested.
