『Munjang-ilgwan』(Consistency of sentences) is inflowed into Chosun Dynasty before the king Sunjo. It is recognized to contribute confirming the prose and composition theories of Chosun Dynasty to some extent after 17th century. Therefore, this article aims to consider the debate relating to the Punjanggooja-bub (the usage for making sentences and phrases) among the composition theories of 『Munjang-ilgwan』(the Consistency of the sentence).As follows are the main points of ＜Pyeon-bub＞(The way for making books)‚ ＜Jang-bub＞(usage for making paragraphs)‚ ＜Goo-bub＞(usage for making phrases)‚ ＜Ja-bub＞(usage for making Chinese characters), which are in the book of 『Munjang-ilgwan』(the Consistency of the sentences). ＜Pyeon-bub＞(The way for making books) points that it is important to make organic relationships among sentences, phrases, and words which make a sentence. Arranging the paragraphs centered around the ＜Jang-bub＞(usage for making paragraphs).In arranging the paragraphs, harmony is considered the most important thing. It is called ＜Goo-bub＞(usage for making phrases) or (the way for coining the words) to make phrase. ＜Goo-bub＞(usage for making phrases) emphasized two elements, that is, the high and low speed, and seriousness and lightness of meaning. ＜Ja-bub＞(usage for making Chinse characters) focused to use the appropriate expression and to avoid Byeok-ja (the words that considered taboo in social and cultural environments).This research is one of the preceding tasks for studying the composition and prose theories in Chosun Dynasty. Since Hu-gyun mentioned the Pyeonjangja-bub (The way for making books and usage for making paragraphs and Chinese characters), the arguments about it has been discussed in the prose theory of Kim Chang-hyup, Lee Sun-hyun and Ahn Seok-gyung. I’ll leave the relationship between the composition theory and 『Munjang-ilgwan』(Consistency of sentences) as the task that I’ll study later.
