"This study was to investigate the effect of liquid culture of Coriolus uersicolor (CV) on the lipid metabolism, the growth, the food intake, the food efficiency ratio, the protein level, the mineral level and enzyme activity. The Sprague-Dawley male rats (255.3=20.2 g) were received 4 types of diets for 5 weeks, respectively: normal diet group, high fat diet group (normal diet - 15% lard), 20% or 30% CV groups (high fat diet + 20% or 30% CV mixed with water). The body weight gain. food intake, food efficiency ratio, and organ weight of the 20% or 30% CV groups were similar to those of the high fat diet group. There were no differences in the concentrations of total cholesterol, total protein and albumin, hemoglobin, glucose, and the activities of GPT and ALP in the serum of all the experimental groups. The concentrations of hepatic triglyceride of the 30% CV group, and serum triglyceride, HDL- cholesterol and HDL-cholesteroVtotal-cholesterol ratio of the 20% or 30% CV groups were significantly lower than those of the high fat diet group, but the atherogenic index in the 20% or 30% CV groups, and the activities of GOT in the 20% CV group were significantly higher than those in the high fat diet group. The albumin/globulin ratio in serum of the 30% CV group was significantly higher than that of the 20% CV group, also the concentrations of serum calcium, phosphorus and magnesium of the 20% or 30% CV groups, and of the 30% CV group were significantly higher than those of the high fat diet group. These results showed that the 30'9 liquid culture of Coriolus uersicolor feeding decreased the serum and hepatic triglyceride of male rats.
