This study was designed to find out the variation of poet, Park Jae-Sam's lyrical characteristics though his life. His poems, in terms of succeeding to and deepening traditional lyricism, is thought as a fruit among others in 1950s, and in terms of a unique poetic words, the ends, verbal pose of language, also thought to widen the horizon of contemporary poetry. With such poems written based on tradition, he is treated in the literary world as one who succeeds to a genealogy of traditional lyrical poets from Kim So-wul to Seo Jung-Ju. In his poetic activities, he has been at the center of lyricism, relatively away from the post-war situations in 1950 when the war was just over, the political swirl in 1960s, the democratic and industrial situations in 1970~80s, and the materialism and environmental pollution in 1990s. Though he continued his unique writing, studies on him and his poems didn't be active and heavily focused on initial poems, brief review, monthly review, and book review which didn't completely include his achievements and fame. It made park's other anthologies not available to a variety of studies and resulted in a partial exposure of his works to the world, not viewed from the whole view of point. Therefore, in this study Park's whole life and works (including collections of Korean odes) were included in terms of the variation in his lyricism. Here, from the first collection of poems to third one was called a duet of heartburning (han in Korean) and sorrow. Pain and deficit shown in the first collection could become a beauty if they passed through nature and his tears which might be the essence of literature, the spirit fit with Korean people, and an attitude for life, which couldn't be thrown away even though the world changes, all of which are also the essence of Park's poetic world. From fourth to eleventh collection was studied in terms of hometown, memory, and the harmony between human being and nature. Without regard to the criticism on the lack of positive attitude for life, this study was consistently in pursue of love in his memory of hometown and found out how the love was related with human being and nature. From twelfth to last collection, overall a sense of futility and the conquest, unchanged love for human being and nature, and adapting himself to circumstances were in purse. In addition to them, his position in Korean literary history was studied. Finally, this study concludes that such could contribute to looking into Park's poetic achievements through the life and could help reach the essence of his world as a poet. In the era when nature and human being are being trampled down, his poetic experience could purify our polluted spirit, in this regard there is Park's lyrics, and Park Jae-Sam as a poet.
