This study puts its objective on the comparison of the attitudes toward disabled children depending upon elementary school teachers' experience of integrated education and teacher's attitude of acceptance depending on the kinds of handicap. Surveys were conducted on 495 teachers both elementary and special in Gyeongsangnam-do, and questionnaire were randomly given and received in 30 elementary schools. Specifically, teachers were registered in the training program for special teachers in 2005. 30 schools have special classrooms for the handicapped. Teachers who attended training program for special teachers were registered for special classrooms. 495 responded in these surveys, 442 questionnaires were used in the analysis except 53 inappropriate responses. The collected data were analysed by means of SPSS 10.0 for Windows according to the gender, age, career, integrated experience and qualification of the elementary school teachers to find out their acceptance attitudes toward disabled children and their acceptance attitudes by kinds of disability. The research came up with the following conclusion through the analysing and discussion. First, there was a significant difference in the attitudes of elementary school teachers toward disabled children according to their experience of integrated education. Teachers with experience of integrated curriculums were more positive toward specializing in teaching disabled children than those without experience of integrated curriculums. This suggests that the success in integrated education is possible when the speciality in the special education should be highly marked, then the education could develop to a perfect integrated education. Second, there were differences in acceptance attitudes of elementary school teachers toward disabled children depending on their qualification for teaching disabled children. Teachers with qualification for teaching disabled children, teachers with qualifications for teaching general students and for teaching disabled children focused on the need of specialization in integrated education more than other teachers and showed a significant difference in their attitudes toward disabled children. This indicates that qualified teachers seemed to be more responsible in the class for disabled children to produce better educational effects on disabled children. It was emphasized that all elementary school teachers should receive qualification training and integrate class special training in order to qualify for special education. Third, there was an outstanding difference in acceptance attitude of teachers toward disabled children by the kinds of children's disability, especially in the aspects of individual difference and whether teachers have special education qualification or not. The attitudes in accepting disabled children by kinds of disability were positive toward physically disabled children, while still negative attitudes toward the severely disabled children. This feature shows there is a great need for understanding integrated education for disabled children as well as for teachers' acceptance attitudes toward disabled students. As the whole view of aspects, this study shows disabled students' acceptance of attitudes depending on the professional knowledge of special education and the experience of integrated classroom by teacher, and it has also different tendency according to kinds and grades of disability by teacher. According to this study, it needs to widen the special education knowledge of general elementary school teachers, analyse suitable methods toward different kinds and grades of disability for integration of special education into the general schools according to kinds and degrees of disability.
