그 기질인 palmitic acid(16:0)와 stearicacid(18:0)를 palmitoleic acid(16:1)와 oleic acid(18:1)로 전환시키게 된다(fig3). Traditionally, hormones are defined as substances produced by glandular organs within the body which are introduced into the bloodstream to affect the activity and function of specific distant target tissues. Thus hormones serve as messengers to coordinate or orchestrate a multitude of cellular events throughout the body. We know that the action of hormones is mediated by specific receptors present on the surface of and within these cells. This initial interaction starts a cascade of events that leads to the ultimate activation of specific genes within the cell, resulting in effects on cellular activity and function. We also know that a major effect of hormones on cells is the regulation of gene expression The expression of stearoyl-CoA desaturase-1 and butyrophilin were regulated by hormones.Obesity is a significant health problem due to its serious medical complications that include hypertension, insulin resistance, diabetes, coronary artery disease, and heart failure. This experiment addresses the hypothesis that stearoyl-CoA desaturase(SCD) is an important metabolic control point in body weight regulation. SCD is the ratelimiting enzyme in the biosynthesis of mono-unsaturated fatty acids. These products are the most abundant fatty acids found in triglycerides, cholesterol esters, wax esters, and phospholipids. The expression of several genes encoding enzymes of lipid synthesis are downregulated in the SCD deficient mice. SCD is also a component of the novel metabolic response to the hormone leptin. SCD therefore appears to be an important metabolic control point, and inhibition of its expression could be of benefit in the treatment of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and other metabolic diseases. Changes in adipose tissue metabolism nay contribute to the menopause transition changes in body fay distribution seen during the menopause transition. The menopause transition marks the cessation of ovarian function and dramatic reductions in circulating estrogen and progesterone concentrations. To determine changes of expression level by hormones, it was studied by the ovariectomy and hormone treatment in mouse. Ovariectomy in rats is a good model of estrogen insufficiency. Buryrophilin in specifically expressed in mammary tissue, with expression being during lactation. This mammary-specific expression of the BTN gene is assumed to be under control of the BTN promoter. BTN is secreted into milk fluid throughout the lactation period, which appeared to increase in amount from the last stage of pregnancy to the early stage of lactation. The ovary produces two major steroid hormones, estrogen and progesterone, and ovariectomy causes a substantial reduction in pregnant mouse. As shown to ovariectomized pregnant mouse induced the increase in expression of BTN mRNA and β-casein. The expression of BTN mRNA was not induced by treating hormones, prolactin and dexamethasone, in HC11 cell, but the expression of β-casein mRNA was induced after treating hormones
