2. The rate of smoking by gender was, 5.07% for males and 2.48% for females. Furthermore, it was found that the percentage of smokers for both genders increased with grade where 1.22% of grade 1 students smoked, 3.65% of grade 2 students, and 5.96% of grade 3 students smoked respectively.

Concerning the smoking starting age of the Middle School smokers, the last respondent group, 174(39.9%) first smoked as grade 1 students, where as the second largest group, 88(20.2%) began in grade 6 of elementary school. 37.6% began smokers indicating beginning smoker while attending elementary school, indicating that the starting age Middle School for smokers is gradually declining.
