This study was carried out to know the current situation of nutrition teachers in nutrition education area in Chonbuk Province. And also to analyze the need of finding suitable direction in preparation of effective nutritional of education system. This study was based on a questionnaire investigation, on the target of 208 nutrition teachers serving at elementary schools, special schools, and comprehensive schools in Chonbuk province. This study made the questionnaire with general contents such as objects' career and school situation, real status of nutritional education such as nutritional education execution, performance of nutritional education, and importance, and the need on nutritional education such as circumstance composition for effective nutritional education, and textbook contents on nutritional education. This study performed a statistic disposal through frequency, average, χ2-test, t-test, and performed by Importance-Performance Analysis(IPA) 1. The rate of nutritional education was 23.1%(periodic :8.7%, occasional :14.4%). 'Schools with farming village type feeding' and 'Schools with the students less than 200 ones' showed a high rate (p<0.01). 2. 44.4% of the responders answered for the frequency of nutritional education, 1~2 times a week, 43.8% of the responders answered for the class works on nutritional education, voluntary activity, at the most 3. 4.64% of the responders answered for the importance of nutritional education, classified with contents, 'various nutritional knowledges' (4.64%) such as nutritional roles, at the most. A comparative analysis of performance and importance showed, at the level of p<0.001, a high importance and low performance in all of the 'nutritional management, classified with life periods', 'Traditional food culture', 'exercise and nutrition'. Also at the level of a high importance and low performance p<0.01 'various nutritional knowledges','weight management for health', 'nutritional management, classified with diseases', Dining Etiquette', 'Select the correct food','Environmental issues'. 4. Responders answered ‘low grade period of elementary school’ for appropriate period of nutritional education, '500 students' for appropriate number, the highest, and voluntary activity school hour for the most effective school hour. 5. Educated group answered 'systematization of nutritional curriculum and development of textbook'(4.90) and Non-educated group answered 'secure of study time for nutritional education by reducing affairs'(4.38) for urgent tasks in nutritional education activation(p<0.001). 6. This study revealed the most need things by nutritional teachers through IPA(Importance-Performance Analysis) Graph. 'Quadrant D' area showing concentrated improvement and management included 'nutritional education and counseling' and 'facility management'. 7. The most important problem in student's dietary life suggested by responders was 'excessive imbalanced diet. The contents with the highest necessity for inclusion in nutritional education textbooks were 'education on dietary life and problems on circumstances'(4.74) In the future, it is necessary to make efforts continuously for systematized nutritional education curriculum, development of textbooks, and improvement of instruction and learning for activated nutritional education, And to display administrative, financial assistances such as establishment of dietary life education rooms, reduce of affairs, and positive reflection of nutritional education time for creative experiences.
