액상상태에서 교차적으로 자가조립(self assembly)하는 방법으로 polyethylene-terephthalate (PET)위에 GO층과 polyethylenimine(PEI)층을 코팅하여 GO/PEI 복합필름을 제조하였다.

One-dimensional carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and two-dimensional graphenes, which are strongly connected with sp2 covalent bonds between carbon atoms, have attracted attentions as a next-generation composite material, which is potentially applicable to the electric/electronics, displays, automotives and architectures etc. due to their excellent properties including high aspect ratio, mechanical robustness, electrical and thermal conductivities. In this study, nanocomposites which were composed of carbon nanomaterials and polymers were fabricated and analyzed to improve their electrical, thermal conductivities and gas-barrier properties. Carbon nanomaterials, which were used in this study, are carbon hybrids, graphene oxides (GO) and single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT). Carbon hybrids were synthesized by CNT growth on carbon supports using chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process and GO was prepared by chemical exfoliation method. SWCNTs were separated by agarose gel. To analyze the properties of nanocomposites, electrical and thermal conductivities, light transmittance and oxygen transmittance rate (OTR) measurements were performed. Firstly, metal catalysts were loaded on the surface of expanded graphite (EG) using impregnation and modified combustion methods, and EG/CNT hybrid fillers were synthesized on the EG supports by CVD process. The electrical conductivity of epoxy nanocomposites with 20 wt% hybrid filler loading showed 158 % and 259 % electrical conductivity improvements, respectively, in comparison with the nanocomposite having individual EG fillers. Furthermore, compared to the nanocomposites with simply mixed EG and CNT fillers, they showed 102 % and 170 % electrical conductivity improvements, respectively. In particular, nanocomposites containing hybrid fillers which were synthesized using EG/MgO supports (EG:MgO = 1:0.32) showed the highest electrical conductivity of 3.6 S/cm among the diverse nanocomposites and 39 % enhancement than the nanocomposites with hybrid fillers which were synthesized by impregnation method. Secondly, graphene nanoplatelet (GNP)/CNT hybrid fillers were fabricated by direct CNT growth on GNP support via CVD process using a catalyst prepared by the modified combustion method. The nanocomposites with 20 wt% hybrid filler loading showed 300 % and 50 % through-plane thermal conductivity improvements in comparison with the individual CNTs and GNPs, respectively. Moreover, it showed an enhanced thermal conductivity of up to 12 % higher than that of the simply mixed GNP and CNT fillers. In more detail, hybrid fillers, whose CNTs were synthesized on the GNP support (Fe/Mo-MgO:GNP = 1:0.46) for 60 minutes via CVD process, presented the highest through-plane thermal conductivity of 2.41 W/mK in an epoxy composite. Thirdly, we characterized the properties of a transparent oxygen barrier film in which graphene oxide (GO) was used as the barrier material. GO was produced by oxidizing graphite via chemical exfoliation methods. Alternating self-assembled solution-deposited GO layers and poly(ethylenimine) (PEI) layers were then deposited on a polyethylene-terephthalate (PET) film surface to prepared GO/PEI hybrid films. The GO/PEI hybrid films displayed excellent oxygen barrier properties, decreasing the oxygen transmittance rate (OTR) to 0.05 cc/m2day, and its light transmittance was 85.6 %. Increasing the number of deposition barrier layers on the PET film decreased the OTR and light transmittance, and the electrical conductivity increased. Finally, metallic and semiconducting single-walled carbon nanobubes (SWCNTs) were separated by agarose gel method. The separated SWCNT was used at hybrid film, and the film electrical conductivity was characterized. The effect of concentration of agarose, SDS (sodium dodecyl sulfate), and pH in the solution on separation behavior was investigated. With increasing the concentration of agarose in the solution, it showed that the ratio of metallic SWCNT was increased in the solution phase, while the overall concentration of SWCNT was decreased. With increasing the concentration of SDS, we could observe that the ratio of metallic SWCNT was increased in solution phase. The highest metallic SWCNT ratio was reached up to 58.4 % when the solution at pH 8.2 was composed of 0.4 wt% agarose and 2 wt% SDS and also was almost twice higher than that of pristine SWCNT. Therefore, we confirmed that agarose gel effectively separated the metallic SWCNT. However, electrical conductivity of SWCNT/polymer hybrid transparent film was reduced due to that length of SWCNT got short in separation process and surfactant was not efficiently removed when hybrid film was prepared.
