This study aimed at comparing school environments and educational activities depending on residential district, and focusing on teachers' perceptions. That is, the study examined the relationship between teachers and class reproduction by comparing teachers' educational activities depending on their perceptions of schools that showed differences in the student's parents' economic level and in the context of school. To this end, the following research questions have been addressed. First, how are school environments different depending on residential district? Second, what perceptions do teachers have of school environment? Third, do teachers' activities show any differences depending on school? In order to resolve the research questions above, three public schools in Suwon City, Gyeonggi-do, each of which was located in a different districts ― a district where apartment rental price is high, a district where apartment rental price is moderate, and a district where apartment rental price is low ― were selected. School environments were compared based on a critical review of literature. Teachers' perceptions and their educational activities were examined through a qualitative research using semi-structured interviews. The results of the study are as follows. First, school environments were formed differently depending on school history, education policy, the principal's will, changes in local community and demands from and needs of parents and students. Second, teachers' perceptions of school, students and parents of B elementary school in the lower-middle class area and C elementary school in the upper-middle class area were similar. However, teachers' perceptions of A elementary school in the lower class area were in contrast with those in the other two schools. Third, educational activities, depending on school environment, were different in the aspects of class and life guidance. Class preparations were carried out in association with school environment while class methods or class activities were similar regardless of school environment. However, in the aspect of life guidance, teachers' roles in the school located in the middle class area and the school in the low-income area were different. From the results above, the following conclusions have been derived. First, systematic measures aimed at complementing life guidance should be taken in schools in low-income areas. Second, competent principals should be assigned to schools in low-income areas, appropriately maintaining their period of service in school.
