The purpose of this study was to examine how children perceive and understand child abuse from the perspective of poor adolescents. This study investigated the perception of child abuse with qualitative research method, especially with vignette and interview. Interview participant was middle school students in two local children 's centers located in Dobong-gu, Seoul. They are those living on or below the poverty line. The following is a summary of the findings according to the general analysis procedure of the qualitative research method. First, poor adolescents perceive child abuse as 'corporal punishment = abuse'. Beating was unconditionally abusive, and the beating itself was perceived as abuse, regardless of whether the promise was fulfilled or not. Second, the anxiety felt in the disciplinary scene is perceived as abuse. Poor adolescents were perceived to be abusive because they experienced anxiety, terrify, fear and emotional trauma in sight of marital discord or discipline involving negative emotions. Third, repeated isolation and neglect are perceived as abuse. The act of isolating a person for the purpose of discipline was perceived to be understandable at least once. However, it is recognized that repeated acts of fear or the feelings of the discipline can lead to abuse. Fourth, violating the duty given to the parents is perceived as abuse. They were perceived to be abusing violations of the child's obligation to create a physical and emotional environment for the child's maturity in violation of the ability to grow in an optimal environment, parentally responsible education. On the other hand, when the guardian is unintended, that is, when a child is alone at home, or when a single parent cares for parenting, and when a parent is sick, I knew that it was not. In addition, vignette recognized abuse as abuse, but recognized that it was not abuse in situations that resembled an individual's environment. Based on the results of this study, suggesting practical suggestions about child abuse is resetting the concept of child abuse and education about child abuse. In addition, the support system for the protection of abused children should be expanded. Finally, in order to prevent abuse, it is necessary to build a care system that links resources in the community.
