The coat protein gene of PVY-SWM showed 88.4%-99.0% and 92.5%-98.5% identities to the 12 different PVY isolates of Genbank Database at the nucleotide and amino acidi respectively. Genbank database를 활용하여 PVY-SWM과타종의 Potyvirus의 외피단백질 영역의 상동성을비교한 결과, PVYNtn계통의 PVY-Hung95와 염기에서는 99.0 %, 번역된 아미노산에서는 98.1 % 로 가장 높은 상동성을 나타내었다(Fig. 6). PVY-SWM과 PVY-TOJC37간의 외피단백질 염기서열을 비교해 본 결과 74번째 염기가 각각 T 와 A로, 349번째 염기가 A와 G로 차이가 있었다.

본 연구에서는 N. africana에서 유래된 황색종 PVY 저항성 품종 육성과정 중 저항성으로 나타난계통에 대하여 PVY 저항성을 재검정 하였으며 그과정 중 일부 개체에서 이병된 개체가 나타나 이들 개체에서 얻은 PVY를 VAM과 N. africana에서 유래된 저항성 계통에 재접종한 결과 모든 식물체가 이병성으로 나타났다. 이에 돌연변이로 나타난 바이러스를 분리하여 지표식물 반응 및 분자생물학적 특성 결과를 보고하고자 한다.

황색종 PVY 저항성 품종 육성중 분리한 potyvirus는 지표식물 반응 및 외피단백질의 상동성을 비교한 결과 potyvirus 속인 PVYNTN subgroup 으로 확인 되었고 PVY 저항성을 파괴하는 변이종으로서 PW-SWM으로 명명하고자 하며, 앞으로 유전자 재조합이나 전장 염기서열 등을 결정하여 병징 발현에 관여하는 것에 대하여 연구가 더 이루어져야 된다고 생각되어진다.
