노년기에 연결적으로 나타나는 문제의 예시는? 노년기에는 이러한 문제들이 개별적으로 일어나기 보다는 연결되어 일어난다는 점에서 특히 문제가 된다. 다시 말해,퇴직을 하게 되면 단순히 직업역할만 상실되는 것이 아니라 경제적인 어려움이 함께 찾아온다. 노화로 여러 질환에 노출되면 의료비 지출이 증가한다. 적은소득에 의료비지출은 늘어나고 바깥 활동은 줄어 사회적 관계망의 축소와 함께 외로움을 느끼게 된다. 이러한 일련의 과정을 거치며 허무함, 무상감 등의 부정적 정서를 갖게 하는 삶의 위기 상황이 찾아오는 것이다.
