However, there are concerns about negative perceptions and prejudice toward AIDS patients. The purpose of this study was to investigate factors related with willingness to volunteer (WV) for patients with end-stage AIDS among hospice volunteers. Methods: Participants were 326 hospice volunteers from 19 institutions. A self-administered questionnaire was employed to investigate the participants' WV for end-stage AIDS patients, and the questions were answered using an 11-point rating scale. Demographics, volunteer activity, satisfaction with hospice volunteering, knowledge of AIDS, and attitudes towards AIDS patients (i.e., fear AIDS patients, negative attitude towards AIDS patients, personal stigmatization and stigmatizing attitude) were also investigated. A multiple regression analysis was performed to examine factors associated with WV for patients with end-stage AIDS. Results: WV for patients with end-stage AIDS was 2.82 points lower than that for cancer patients (P<0.001). The multiple regression analysis showed that the higher the level of satisfaction with hospice volunteering (P=0.002) and the lower the level of "personal stigmatization" (P<0.001), participants showed greater WV for end-stage AIDS patients. 제안 방법
인구사회학적 변수로 나이, 성별, 교육 정도, 결혼 상태, 종교에 대해서 조사하였다. 호스피스 자원봉사와 관련하여 자원봉사를 한 총 기간, 1주일 동안의 자원봉사 빈도, 자원봉사를 하는 날의 봉사 시간을 조사하였다.
대상 데이터
여러 호스피스 완화의료 기관의 자원봉사자 관리자들에게 연락하여 설문조사를 해주겠다고 한 기관들에 2017년 4월부터 2017년 5월까지 총 350부를 배포하였다. 19개 기관(제주도를 제외한 전 지역)에서 326명(93.1%)의 호스피스 자원봉사자들이 설문지에 답해주었다. 본 연구 방법에 대해서는 연구자들이 소속된 기관의 institutional review board의 허가를 득해 연구를 진행하였다(CNUH 2017-02-037).
데이터처리
AIDS, COPD, LC, 암환자들에 대한 자원봉사 제공의향 정도의 차이에 대해서는 각각 paired samples T-test를 이용하여 분석하였다. AIDS 환자들에 대한 자원봉사 제공의향 정도에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 알아보기 위해 단변량 분석으로 연속 변수들과는 Pearson’s correlation test를 사용하여 분석하였다. 명목 변수들과는 independent sample T-test 또는 one-way ANOVA test를 이용하여 분석하였다.
