본 연구는 태풍 차바(Chaba) 내습시(2016년 10월) 부산 해운대 마린시티 주변의 파랑 및 호안 월파 특성, 호안 마루높이(천단고)와 배후지 침수 특성에 대해서 고찰하였다. 얻어진 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. (1) 태풍 차바 내습시 인근 부산북항에서 동일한 시간에 $H_{max}=9.1m$, $H_{1/3}=8.1m$, $T_{1/3}=10.5sec$가 계측되었으며, 마린시티에 큰 피해를 입혔던 AM 10:00~11:00시 사이에는 S 또는 SE방향 바람이 발생함으로써 호안 월파를 증대시켰다. (2) 태풍 내습시 최대 조위는 218 cm로 관측되었는데, 해운대 마린시티의 태풍에 의한 해수면 상승고(해일고, Storm surge)는 97 cm로 추정된다. (3) 해운대 마린시티 호안 구간에서 태풍 차바 내습시 입사파랑은 호안 법선에 입사각 약 $15{\sim}20^{\circ}$(파향 S), 주기는 호안 구간별로 다소 차이를 보이나 약 15 sec로 입사 및 월파하는 것으로 나타났다.

The results of the study can be summarized as follows. (1) The maximum wave height ($H_{max}$) was 9.1 m, the significant wave height ($H_{1/3}$) was 8.1 m, and the significant wave period ($T_{1/3}$) was 10.5 s, as measured at the nearby Busan North Port during the passing of Typhoon Chaba. At AM 10:00-11:00, when the greatest damage was caused to the marine city, south and south-easterly winds increased, overtopping the seawall. (2) The maximum tidal wave level observed during the passing of Typhoon Chaba was 218 cm and the storm surge caused by the typhoon in HMC was estimated to be 97 cm.
