Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify a causal relationship among major satisfaction, career decision autonomy, and career search behavior of nursing college students in clinical practice experience. Methods: Data were collected using a self-reported questionnaires from 197 nursing students in S city from December 1 to 23, 2016. These were then analyzed by descriptive statistics, ANOVA, t-test, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression using SPSS/PC+ program. Results: The results suggest that major satisfaction was correlated with career decision autonomy; likewise, major satisfaction was correlated with career search behavior. The factors influencing career search behavior were grades and major satisfaction. Conclusion: It is necessary to develop a learning method considering interest and aptitude to increase the satisfaction of the major and to apply the various programs to understand the self and the work environment so as to determine how desirable the course will be.

1분석 프로그램을 이용하여 산출된 최소 표본의 수는 107명으로 나타났다. 본 연구에서는 3학년과 4학년에 재학 중인 학생 211명에게 설문지가 배부되었으며, 이 중 회수되지 않은 자료와 부적절한 자료를 제외한 197부를 분석에 이용하였다.

데이터처리

0 통계 프로그램을 이용하여 분석하였다. 대상자의 일반적 특성, 전공만족도, 진로결정자율성, 진로탐색행동 정도는 빈도와 백분율, 평균, 표준편차의 기술통계를 사용하였고, 일반적 특성에 따른 전공만족도, 진로 결정자율성, 진로탐색행동은 독립표본 T검증(independent t-test)과 일원배치 분산분석(ANOVA), 사후검증은 Scheffe test로 분석하였다. 전공만족도, 진로결정자율성과 진로탐색행동의 관계는 Pearson’s 상관계수를 이용하였고, 진로탐색행동에 영향을 미치는 요인을 확인하기 위해 단계적 다중회귀분석(stepwise multiple regression)으로 분석하였다.

Guay (2005)가 개발한 진로결정자율성척도(Career Decision-making Autonomous Scale)를 Kim (2013)이 수정한 도구를이용하였으며, 자율성 수준에 따라 8개의 행동에 대해 4개의 이유를 묻는 32개의 문항으로 구성되었다. 1점에서 5점 척도로 요인별 점수는 8-40점이며, 자율성지수는 (내적동기+동일시된 조절)-(주입된 조절+외적 조절) 계산법에 의해 산출하며,점수가 높을수록 자율성이 높다.
Ha와 Kim (2000)이 개발한 학과만족 도구를 Lee (2004)가전공만족 관련 18문항으로 수정 보완한 도구를 이용하였으며,일반만족 6문항, 인식만족 6문항, 교과만족 3문항, 교수학생간의 관계만족 3문항으로 구성되었다. 1점에서 5점 척도로 점수가 높을수록 전공만족도가 높음을 의미하였다.
진로탐색행동은 Choi와 Jeong (2003)이 개발한 대학생용 진로탐색행동 검사를 이용하였으며 이 도구는 총 28문항으로 자기에 대한 탐색 12문항, 직업환경에 대한 탐색 16문항으로 구성되었다. 1점에서 5점 척도로 점수가 높을수록 진로탐색행동을 많이 하는 것을 의미한다.

성능/효과

이상의 연구 결과를 볼 때 간호대학생의 전공만족도는 진로결정자율성과, 전공만족도는 진로탐색행동과 상관관계가 있었으며. 전공만족도와 학년은 진로탐색행동에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이에 본 연구를 바탕으로 간호대학생들이 다양한 진로를 탐색하고 자신에게 적합한 진로를 결정할 수 있도록 관심을 가지며 전공만족도를 높이기 위한 교수들의 다양한 학습법의 개발과 그 효과를 측정하는 연구가 필요할 것으로 본다.
그러나 본 연구에서 진로결정자율성과 진로탐색행동은 상관관계가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 진로결정자율성이 전공만족도와 양의 상관관계가 있고, 전공만족도가 진로탐색행동과 양의 상관관계가 있는데, 진로결정자율성과 진로탐색행동과는 상관관계가 없는 것으로 나타난 것이다. 이는 진로가 이미 결정되어 있는 학생들이 대부분인 간호대학생이라는 특수성을 생각해 볼 수 있는데, Gong과 Lee(2014)의 연구에서 보면 취업가능성이나 직업의 안정성과 같은 외적 동기를 우선 고려해 대학전공을 결정했다면 대학입학 후 진로적응이 중요한 적응과제가 된다는 것을 알 수 있다.
진로탐색행동에 영향을 미치는 요인을 회귀분석한 결과 학년과 전공만족도가 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 이는 3학년보다는 4학년이 진도탐색행동이 활발하며, 전공만족도가 높은 학생일수록 진로탐색행동을 적극적으로 한다고 한 Choi 등(2016), Lee와 Cha (2015), Jin과 Sung (2012)의 연구결과와 일치하였다.

후속연구

또한 본 연구의 주요변인인 진로결정자율성이 진로탐색행동에 유의한 상관관계를 보이지 않고 회귀분석에서도 주요 영향요인으로 확인되지 않았으며, 진로탐색행동에 전공만족도와 학년이 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으나 회귀식의 전체 설명력이 낮았다. 단 전공만족도 및 진로결정자율성이 유의미한 상관관계를 나타낸 점에 근거하여, 추후 연구에서 진로탐색행동에 영향하는 변인을 추가한 반복연구 또는 이론적 기틀에 근거하여 진로탐색행동에 대한 진로결정자율성의 매개 효과 확인연구가 필요할 것으로 보인다.
본 연구는 일개 대학의 간호대학생을 대상으로 조사되어 제한점을 가지고 있다. 또한 학생들에게서 진로결정자율성을 의미하는 자율성지수가 낮게 측정된 것을 확인할 수 있는데, 진로결정자율성의 수준이 낮은 것이 전공탐색행동에 어떠한 관련성을 갖는지 확인연구가 필요할 것으로 생각된다.
전공만족도와 학년은 진로탐색행동에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이에 본 연구를 바탕으로 간호대학생들이 다양한 진로를 탐색하고 자신에게 적합한 진로를 결정할 수 있도록 관심을 가지며 전공만족도를 높이기 위한 교수들의 다양한 학습법의 개발과 그 효과를 측정하는 연구가 필요할 것으로 본다.

	간호 학생들이 본인의 진로를 결정함에 있어 스스로 능동적으로 진로를 탐색하고 결정해야하는 이유는 무엇인가?	그러나 노인인구의 증가, 만성질환 유병률의 증가, 의료기술 발달 등의 변화는 임상뿐만 아니라 많은 분야에서 간호학과 졸업생의 역량을 요구하고 있으며, 병원 취업 이외에도 다양한 진로 선택의 기회가 있으므로(Moon & Lee, 2010) 간호 학생들은 본인의 진로를 결정함에 있어서 스스로가 능동적으로 진로를 탐색하고 결정해야 한다(Lee & Kim, 2015). 전공과 관련된 다양한 직업에 대한 충분한 이해는 졸업 후의 장기적인 진로를 본인의 자율적인 동기를 가지고 생각할 수 있도록 할 것이다.
	진로결정자율성이란 무엇인가?	진로결정자율성이란 진로결정을 하기 위한 행동을 자신의 자아실현을 위해 중요하고 의미있다고 느낌으로서 개인이 자신의 의지대로 행동한다고 인지하는 동기 수준을 의미하며(Guay, 2005), 진로결정자율성이 높다는 것은 자율적인 동기(내재된 동기, 동일시된 조절)에 의하여 진로를 결정하기 위한 행동을 하는 것을 말한다. 진로결정자율성은 Ryan과 Deci(2000)의 자기결정이론에서 출발하는데, 이 이론은 동기와 행동에 관한 이론으로서 개인이 지각하는 동기의 자율성 수준에 따라 개인의 인지적, 사회적 발달의 차이에 관심을 둔다.
