Purpose: To identify factors affecting parenting stress of unmarried mothers. Methods: The subjects were 108 unmarried women who were parenting their children under the age of six. The data was collected from December 15, 2016 to March 5, 2017. The instruments consisted of self-reported questionnaires that included93 items: 21 on depression, 16 on social support, 20 on health perception, and 36 on parenting stress. The collected data were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlations, and hierarchical multiple regression. Results: The factors influencing parenting stress were health perception (${\beta}=-.55$, p<.001), evaluative support (${\beta}=-.42$, p=.005), informative support (${\beta}=-.35$, p=.040), emotional support (${\beta}=-.24$, p=.045), partner support (${\beta}=-.20$, p=.048), and depression (${\beta}=.14$, p=.033), and the explanatory power was 57%. Conclusion: In order to alleviate the parenting stress of unmarried mothers, it is necessary to develop programs considering the physical, psychological, and social factors of unmarried mothers. Their subjective assessment of their health can increase or decrease their parenting stress, so it is necessary to develop parenting-stress intervention focusing on health perception.

데이터처리

• 대상자의 양육 스트레스에 영향을 주는 요인을 확인하기 위해 2단계 위계적 회귀분석(hierarchical multiple regression)을 이용하여 분석하였다. 먼저 1단계에서는 대상자 특성 중 양육 스트레스에 유의한 차이를 보인 변수를 독립변수로 투입하였다.
• 대상자의 우울, 사회적 지지, 건강지각과 양육 스트레스의 상관관계를 파악하기 위하여 Pearson correlation으로 분석하였다.
• 대상자의 일반적 특성에 따른 우울, 사회적 지지, 건강지각 및 양육 스트레스의 차이는 t-test와 ANOVA를 이용하여 분석하였다.

이론/모형

건강지각은 Ware [20]가 개발한 The Health Perception Questionnaire를 Lee [21]가 수정 ‧ 보완한 도구로 측정하였다. 이 도구는 총 20문항이며, 현재 건강 7문항, 과거 건강 2문항, 미래건강 2문항, 건강 관심 4문항, 저항성과 민감성 2문항, 환자역할 거부 3문항으로 구성되어 있다.
본 연구에서 우울은 Beck 등[16]이 개발한 Beck Depression Inventory II (BDI-II)를 Sung 등[17]이 번역한 한국어판 BDI-I를 사용하여 측정하였다. BDI-II는 DSM-IV의 우울장애 진단기준에 따라 기존의 BDI를 수정하여 보완한 것이다.
사회적 지지는 Park [18]이 개발한 사회적 지지 척도를 Moon[19]이 미혼모 특성에 맞게 수정하여 보완한 도구를 사용하여 측정하였다. 이 도구는 4개의 하위 영역을 측정하도록 구성되어 있다.
양육 스트레스는 Abidin [22]이 개발한 Parenting Stress Index: Short Form을 Lee 등[23]이 표준화한 한국판 부모양육 스트레스 검사-축약형 도구를 사용하여 측정하였다. 본 도구는 부모가 자녀 양육에 있어서 경험하는 스트레스를 부모 영역,부모-아동관계 영역, 아동 영역의 3개 하위 영역으로 구분되며 각 영역별 12문항씩 총 36문항으로 구성되어있다.

본 연구결과 대상자의 우울과 양육 스트레스는 양의 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났으며 이는 영유아 자녀를 양육중인 기혼여성을 대상으로 한 연구[26]의 결과와 일치한다. 양육 스트레스는 일상적 스트레스 사건 중 하나로 우울을 예측할 수 있는 요인이며[25], 우울 수준이 높을수록 양육 스트레스에 취약한 것으로 사료된다.
Rousou 등[29]의 주장에 따르면 경제적 어려움, 사회적 배제로 인한 스트레스는 건강상태에 부정적인 영향을 미친다고 하였다. 이는 미혼모가 사회경제적 어려움으로 건강관리 접근에 취약하며 건강관리 서비스를 이용하더라도 다른 집단에 비해 주관적으로 지각하는 건강상태가 낮음을 알 수 있었다[13].
이는 동일한 측정 도구를 사용하여 시설에 입소 중인 미혼모들을 대상으로 한 연구[24]에서 우울 점수보다 낮게 나타났다. 이는 소득의 불안정이 불충분한 식사와 주거 불안에 영향을 미쳐 심리적 긴장을 유발시키므로 직업이 있는 미혼모가 사회복지 자원을 받는 미혼모에 비해 우울의 수준이 낮게 나타난 것으로 사료된다[25]. 만 5세 이하의 자녀를 양육중인 기혼여성을 대상으로 한 연구[26] 결과보다 본 연구의 우울이 높게 측정되었다.
