교대근무가 줄 수 있는 부정적인 영향은? 24시간 간호를 제공해야 하는 간호사에게 교대근무는 필수적이다[16]. 교대근무는 불규칙한 수면 양상을 유발하고, 수면의 질을 저하시키고 수면 부족은 휴식을 취하더라도 그 여파가 2-3일 지속되므로 간호사의 피로를 누적시킬 수 있다[17]. 이러한 간호사의 수면 부족은 과도한 주간 졸음을 유발하고 피로도와 안전사고 위험성을 증가시키며[18], 특히 투약 오류와 주사침 상해를 증가시키는 것으로 보고되었다[19-21].
혈액과 체액 노출 미보고율이 높은 상황에서 피로가 지속되는 경우 신속하게 진료를 연계할 수 있도록 직원 교육을 강화할 필요가 있는 이유는? 간염바이러스는 짧게는 15일에서 길게는 180일까지 잠복기가 길기 때문에[1], 노출 당시에는 간염을 진단받지 않은 노출원에 노출될 가능성이 있다. C형 간염은 2017년 6월부터 법정 감염병으로 지정된 후 1년간 신고건수의 누계가 12,000건 이상에 달하여 동일 기간의 A형 간염(3,461건)과 B형 간염(441건)과 비교하여 유병률이 매우 높았다[44]. 노출 후 권장되는 효과적인 감염예방 처치가 없기 때문에 C형 간염바이러스 노출은 가장 큰 문제로 대두될 수 있다. 이에 혈액과 체액 노출 미보고율이 높은 상황에서 혈액과 체액 노출 후 간염의 일반적인 증상인 피로가 지속되는 경우 신속하게 진료를 연계할 수 있도록 직원 교육을 강화할 필요가 있다.
