작업치료사들의 노인과의 의사소통 방식을 알아보기 위하여 Lee와 Gang(2019)이 개발한 의사소통행위 측정 도구를 활용하였다. 이 도구는 총 18문항으로 대화 반응 관리(5문항), 관계조절(3문항), 정서표현(6문항), 이해증진(4문항)의 4개 요인영역으로 구분되었다.
작업치료사의 노인에 대한 인식을 알아보기 위하여 노인에 대해 감정적 및 행동적 반응을 평가할 수 있는 Saunders, Montgomery, Pittman과 Balkwell(1984)이 개발하고 Kang, Jung과 Kim(2009)이 번안한 노인에 대한지식 및 태도 관련 설문지를 사용하였다. 본 도구는 노인에 대한 주관적 인식을 알아볼 수 있는 총 20개 항목의 형용사(현명한, 친절한, 무식한 등)로 구성되었다.
