  • 한편 미각장애기전에 대해서는 ACE2가 구강점막과 혀 상피세포에도 많이 발현되는 것을 보면 SARS-CoV-2가 직접 미뢰나 수용체를 손상하기도 하고, 미각을 구별하여 전도하는 신경경로의 손상(retro nasal olfactory dysfunction)과도 관련된다는 가설을 제시한다. 그러면서 후미각장애가 동반되고 후각장애 없이 미각 장애만 급성적으로 나타나는 경우도 있다는 보고들에 근거하여 미각 장애가 후각장애보다 더 많을 것으로 예측하였지만, 실제 임상 보고는 그렇지 않은 결과에 대해 저자는 의문을 제기한다.
