Since nitrogen and phosphorus are the major sources of eutrophication in water system, a lot of treatment technologies have been developed to remove them and the similar efforts have been made for the establishment of analytical methods. Rapid and on site detection methods are required for the analysis of them. Thus, we focused on the development of analytical method for phosphate, and the feasibility study on the phosphate analysis by columns coated with adsorbents was carried out. CDA-silica gel and CTMA-silica gel adsorbents could effectively adsorb molybdenum blue and show linear relationship with color band length. CDA-silica gel adsorbents could effectively detect phosphate ion below 3 mgPO43-/L and 3 to 15 mgPO43- /L of phosphate was effectively detected by CTMA-silica gel adsorbents. The color band length was controlled by the filtrate volume of molybdenum blue.
