A catalytic process for cracking of gas oil is disclosed, wherein trace amounts of metals of Periods 5 and 6 of Group VIII or rhenium is added to the total catalyst inventory so as to enhance significant conversion of the CO in the regenerator while maintaining the efficiency of the cracking reactio
