A safety sensor device for automatically shutting off the flow of fluids such as water, gas, oil or steam, or shutting off electric power, or actuating an alarm in the event of an earthquake or other violent shock. The device includes a spring-loaded shut-off member normally held in a retracted position by a latch. A pendulum is connected to the latch so that upon the occurrence of an earthquake or other violent shock, movement of the pendulum will release the latch.
