A turbomolecular pump coaxial with the drive shaftof a rotary anode in an ray tube is provided between the radial seal of the drive shaft and the high vacuum space surrounding the rotary anode. A pot-shaped shell mounted on the drive shaft where the latter passes through its bottom carries the rotor vanes, while the stator vanes are fixed on the tube casing.
