The invention relates to a mechanism for actuating the carburetor throttle or fuel injection pump rack of an internal combustion engine. The mechanism comprises a ball screw device including an axially fixed nut rotatable by a reversible electric motor to axially reciprocate a screw concentrically within the nut and connected to the engine throttle or rack.
