A thermal insulating and shock absorbant bag, particularly a carrying bag, is formed of walls each having an outer layer of thin, flexible thermoplastic foam of a thickness between the 0.07 mm and 0.14 mm, which provides effective insulating properties. The bag walls each have an inner layer of thin flexible thermoplastic polyethylene film connected by welding to the outer layer at the edge portions of the bag.
