A theft deterent lock comprising a lock cylinder means having a keyway adapted to be received in a bore extending through a door, a protective sleeve circumbscribing said lock cylinder means, said sleeve having a face plate adapted to extend in the plane of the door, said face plate having an opening therein adapted to be disposed in alignment with the key way of said lock cylinder means, a lock nut connected to the end of said sleeve remote from said face plate for securing said lock cylinder means within said sleeve between said face plate and said lock nut, said sleeve and connected lock nut being free to rotate relative to said lock cylinder means, and means for securing said lock cylinder means to the door within the bore therein whereby said protective sleeve prohibits one from tampering with said lock cylinder means.
