The support structure for the tent shell includes a plurality of interconnectable pole structures and an external, umbrella-type rib structure for placing the tent poles in an outwardly directed tension. The tent pole structure is integrally joined to the tent shell so as to provide a unitary, man-portable and erectable tent structure.
