Preparation of zeolites having the formula: (1.5±0.6) M2/nO.Al2O3.ySiO2.zH2O [wherein y ranges from 20 to 90, z ranges from 2 to 12, M is at least one cation and n is the valence of M], comprising the admixing of diethyl-piperidinium hydroxide, or a salt thereof, with H2O and with at least one Na compound, one Al compound and one Si compound, the molar ratios (ratios of oxides) being: SiO2:Al2O3=from 20 to 120; H2O:Na2O=from 50 to 600; Na2O:SiO2=from 0.07 to 0.50; (DEPP)2O:SiO2=from 0.05 to 0.50. The invention concerns also the thus obtained zeolites and their use for acid-catalyzed conversions of hydrocarbons.

A method for preparing zeolites having the formula: (1.5±0.6)M2/nO.Al2O3.ySiO2.zH2O wherein y ranges from 20 to 90, z ranges from 2 to 12, M is at least one cation and n is the valence of M, and wherein Al and Si can be optionally replaced, at least partially, by Ga and Ge respectively, said method comprising the admixing of diethylpiperidinium hydroxide or of a salt thereof with H2O and with at least: (a) one sodium compound; (b) one compound of a metal selected from the group comprising Al, Ga and mixtures thereof; (c) one compound of an element selected from the group comprising Si, Ge and mixtures thereof, the molar ratios, expressed as ratios of oxides, being comprised within the following ranges: SiO2:Al2O3=from 20 to 120 Na2O:SiO2=from 0.07 to 0.50 (DEPP)2O:SiO2=from 0.05 to 0.50 H2O:Na2O=from 50 to 600, and wherein the resulting start mixture is heated, for crystallization purposes, at from 160°C. to 200°C. for at least 24 hours.
