A cast or pressed explosive primer is provided which is adapted for slidable initiating engagement with a detonating cord. The primer comprises two hermetically sealed shells or cups which are connected together. One shell contains a sensor/signal carrier/delay cap combination and the second shell contains the explosive primer charge. Guides are provided on the outside of the shells for the threading therethrough of a detonating cord.
