A seal for closing a bearing cavity that has a bore and a wear surface at its end includes an elastomeric retaining band that fits snugly against the wall of the bore, an elastomeric seal lip that contacts the wear surface and creates a barrier to the passage of fluid along that surface as the surface rotates relative to the seal or vice-versa, and an impervious connecting section that extends between the retaining band and the seal lip.
