For the purpose of measuring the concentration of one or more given components of the breathing gas of a patient there is removed a small part of the breathing gas at a location immediately in front of the mouth of the patient. The withdrawn gas is passed to a measuring instrument sensitive to the component or components of interest through a line which comprises, at least in part, a thin tube of a fluorosulfonyl polymer, and the outer surface of which is in free contact with the ambient air.
