Operation of an inhalation therapy heater is regulated under control of the temperature sensor for the flow medium to maintain a selected temperature level to which the flow medium is heated during a warm-up period. Operation of the heater is intermittantly interrupted under control of a heater temperature sensor during the warm-up period to minimize temperature overshoot heating.
