An access plug for providing a removable closure for a threaded hole in a housing of an electric starter or the like. The access plug is formed of a plastic molding material and has a cap member and a retainer member that are joined by a thin annular frangible portion. When assembling the plug to the threaded hole the plug is aligned with the hole and one end of the plug engages the housing.
