A method and apparatus for erecting buildings is disclosed. The method involves providing frame elements of a building which may be made up of spaced columns connected together by a beam or beams which may meet at a gable. To erect the frames, each frame is disposed horizontally on the ground with bases of the columns attached by a hinge member to a footing.
