A sign stand for supporting signs in windy environments includes a base, a lower staff portion secured to the base, and an upper staff portion for receiving a display sign. The sign stand includes a platform support having a bracket secured thereto. A platform connected to the upper staff portion is pivotally mounted upon the bracket so that the upper staff portion has a range of pivotal motion in a plane.
