A valve comprising in combination: a valve body having a passageway and including a port; a valve member having a spherical surface; an annular channel in said valve body and about said port, said annular channel including an inclined wall describing a conical surface having a diameter decreasing toward said passageway, said inclined wall terminating at a channel wall adjacent said inclined wall; an O-ring having an inside diameter smaller than the diameter of the spherical surface of said valve member, said O-ring being in contact with said inclined wall for sealing said port when said spherical surface of said valve member is forced against said O-ring wherein said O-ring is caused to roll upon and wedge against said inclined wall without contacting said adjacent wall; and support means for supporting said valve member when said spherical surface of said valve member is not in contact with said O-ring.
