A staged low NOx gas turbine combustor includes a refractory fibrous thermally insulatively lined primary combustion chamber, operating fuel-rich, and exhausting through a throat into a metallic secondary combustion chamber containing a fuel-lean secondary combustion zone in which combustion is completed.
