A gas turbine engine utilizes a main and at least one auxiliary particle separator for enhancing the separation of foreign particles from a stream of air entering the engine. The engine includes interior walls which collectively define an engine intake passageway and a compressor inlet passageway in flow communication with the intake passageway so as to provide a primary flowpath for air traveling through the engine to the engine compressor.
