A solid detergent composition for cleaning hard surfaces comprises an active detergent constituent which also serves as a carrier material, and a cleaning constituent. The cleaning constituent can comprise an acidic material, which is effective to remove soap scum from hard surfaces, or a bleach functional at a basic pH which is effective to bleach mildew.
