This invention pertains to a lamp socket assembly for use in automotive applications and the like. The assembly includes a housing, a contact insert, and a body. The contact insert is captured in the cavity of the housing by the body. The body is welded to the housing. Lugs on the body secure the assembly to a panel. A seal is placed between a flange on the housing and the panel to seal the assembly to the panel.
