A process for producing C3-plus hydrocarbons from carbon monoxide which comprises contracting a feed stream comprising hydrogen and carbon monoxide with a solid catalyst in a reaction zone maintained at conversion-promoting conditions and producing an effluent stream comprising C3-plus hydrocarbons, with the catalyst comprising (i) an inorganic oxide support; (ii) about 0.3-6.0 wt. percent ruthenium present as particles of about 40-60 Angstroms and (iii) about 0.1-5 wt. % of a modifier component chosen from the group consisting of aluminum, silicon, lead, arsenic, and bismuth.
