A system and method for shopping are described which includes a lightweight, compact carrier, made of nylon or fabric material, designed to carry a set of reusable shopping bags. The set of shopping bags comprise a plurality of bag structures made of either nylon, fabric or paper material. The bag structures are folded into a compact shape which are then placed on one edge and stacked horizontally in a side by side manner inside the carrier.
