A cat litter box cleaner utilizes a slotted litter shovel on the end of a hand held container. The container includes a spring loaded door which permits a user to scoop up cat litter, shake the litter through the slots in the shovel, and then depress a button which releases the door so as to allow fecal material to fall into the container.
