The gypsum board of claim 1, wherein said fibrous mat contains glass fibers. 3. The gypsum board of claim 1, wherein said core contains sufficient water-resistant additive for absorbing less than about 10% water in an ASTM C-473 test. 4. The gypsum board of claim 1, wherein said water-resistant additive comprises organohydrogenpolysiloxane. 5. The gypsum board of claim 3, wherein said core includes a fire-resistant additive which enables said board to achieve an ASTM E-119 fire rating of at least about 1 hour.
