The device comprises a base plate (9) on which the base (5) of the binding and a slide-rail fastened to the ski, along which the base plate (9) can slide longitudinally, are removably assembled so as to form a solid attachment. The base plate (9) incorporates a longitudinal positioning-locking mechanism and a control button (10) for the locking mechanism, accessible on a lateral edge of the base plate. The device comprises an arrangement for automatic blocking of the locking mechanism in its operative locked position, for as long as a voluntary maneuver is not performed in order to disengage the blocking arrangement. In particular, the housing (41) of the locking mechanism is flared, and the blocking arrangement comprises a finger (58) which cooperates with a groove (59).
