A connecting device for connecting straps in a shoulder harness for carrying a handgun is a flat plate with a slot for forming a flat fold in a first strap, and first and second pairs of slots arranged in a triangular pattern with the fold forming slot for retaining portions of the strap on opposite sides of the fold flat against the plate.
