This invention relates to a method and system for controlling a heating/air conditioning unit. More particularly, this invention relates to a control unit which detects the presence of one or more gases (e.g. CO, fuel, refrigerant or radon) produced by the heating/air conditioning unit and disables the heating/air conditioning unit if gases are present in undesired concentrations.
