Demodulation of a CDMA downlink signal is performed by filtering correlations of the received signal with a known signature sequence. Unlike the conventional RAKE receiver, the filtering is not necessarily a FIR filter with coefficients equal to the conjugates of channel tap estimates. Instead, the
